If you write, or doodle, or scribble – you might be interested in the June 22nd Zine Off at Pressed on 750 Gladstone. This is an event where you can meet “people who don’t suck” according to the Small Press Book Fair blog. What is really appealing is that this Zine Off encourages trades rather than sales – so you show up with your slice of creative pie, and go home with a whole schmorgous board of varies desserts. I like that. Maybe you do too?
How do you make a zine? Im glad you asked. Here is a simple little guide for anyone looking for the beginners guide to Zines. This takes one sheet of paper and no staples whatsoever. Throw in some photocopies and some folding, and you’ll have a stack of your very one zine. (This is what I’ll be doing if I find the time & energy, becuase it would be fun to actually try to to zine . . . assuming that’s a verb as well as a noun?)
So, I think this looks fun. Learn more and show your interested in attending on their event facebook page. If you want to learn more about Zines, check out rob’s blog over at the Small Press Book Fair blog. ~Catherine #OttawaWrites
